Road Food Revisited -- Oklahoma Joe's

According to Anthony Bourdain, there are 13 places where you need to eat before you die and one of them is Oklahoma Joe's.  Actually, I had no idea!  We were just scouting for a place to take my mother for lunch in suburban Kansas City and I remembered a fantastic joint we'd eaten at with friends on the last trip.

Dining at Oklahoma Joe's was actually quite fitting since the family truckster is now packed to the gills like an Okey headed West in the Depression years.  Saby's praying we don't pull a Romney on her and mount her to the top of the car!

The line was out the door at Oklahoma Joe's at 11:30 a.m. on a Monday morning.  And OMG!  I know why.   Craig ordered the smallest rib portion, the Three Rib Sandwich with potato salad, and I shared my Half BBQ Chicken order and slaw with Craig.  My mom loved her smoked brisket sandwich and BBQ beans.

These photos don't really do the taste justice!  Oklahoma Joe's is also rated number one by Zagat's for BBQ in K.C.    I wonder if they'd open a franchise for me in Phoenix?
