The Island Report

We've loving Ambergris Caye with its funky island feel and friendly people.  When we're out on our daily walks, I often hear a voice call out Hi Miss Becky and I recognize the neighbor from down the street.  We're enjoying the cultural soup of Spanish/Creole/British/Rasta. Here are some funky photos from yesterday's walk and bike ride.

 Security onsite.

Neighborhood fruit and veggie stand.

This coatimundi's ready (or not) for his photo op.  It poses in exchange for donations (if you can get him to hold still).

The island has an interesting mix of food!

With familiar neighborhood tiendas almost every block.

Coca-Cola is king.  This snack bar is located at the high school down the road.

The Coca-Cola delivery truck looks a little different here!

A lot of locals get around by bike.   On our bike ride yesterday, we encountered this man happily pedaling down the street with his new papaya tree!

English is the official language, but funky rules!

Another neighborhood fruit stand.

I think we'll give my aching feet a rest tomorrow and take a water taxi to Caye Caulker!   More photos to come!

Excellent images! Your perspective has captured many locations that I do not recognized and has given me the challenge to change my routine on my next trip.
