Spam-a-Lot

Spam, and I'm not talking junk e-mail! This is a sad tale of hard economic times. The Kennedy administration was the Camelot era. Unfortunately for President Obama, it looks like it's now Spam-a-Lot! There was a clip on the evening news Friday night that the Spam business is once again booming. And not just in Hawaii where it's always been a local delicacy. This is mainland United States. Tough times call for cheap artery-clogging food. The good news is that particular Hormel plant probably won't need to lay off any workers. The bad news? Cardiologists better ramp up!

Here's an old Monty Python clip on Spam. I'm like the old woman. I DON'T LIKE SPAM!

Craig sarcastically suggested that I post a recipe for Spam in a Crockpot. So here it is:

Open Spam can (does it have a key?) and place the gelatinous molded fat (you can opt to rinse greasy slimy gel off) in crockpot. Open can of crushed pineapple and dump over Spam. Barbecue sauce may be substituted. Or just dump pineapple and barbecue sauce for that BBQ Hawaiian effect. Yummmmmmm. Bon appetit!

Craig used to actually like this stuff way back when. If I was gone for any period of time, he'd buy a can and eat it. The Road to Lipitor!

Yuck--I don't like Spam at all! I think we ate it a few times when growing up, but not regularly. I guess we would have that old NE standby--hotdogs, beans & brown bread!

I'm with you on Spam. I'd even opt for Ramen noodles over Spam. The Monty Python video brought back good memories.

Thanks John! I'll have to check out your blog!

Ann, I can't handle beanie weenies, but I'll occasionally eat a hot dog. Guess I might end up eating a LOT of hot dogs! :)

Deb, I also don't like Ramen noodles unless you do something crunchy with the noodles in a recipe. I think I'm way too picky!
