Saturday Hodge Podge

Queso Oaxaca man walking down Juarez.  You might say he's the original Cheesehead!

Remnants of better times.

Okay, I wish I knew the story on this boat!  The Lety.  It has its own garden on board.

And is that a shrine to Snow White?

Daytripper with doggie on board.  Saby would definitely see that as an indignity.

 Pink sombrero.

Fun clothesline pic.

Mercado stall.

The postman's new ride.

She still sets up on her corner!

Piggies at the Market and Other Isla Oddities!

After three meals here this visit, Craig's decided his favorite stall in the market is now Poc Chuc.  We headed there yesterday morning after our seaglass hunt and couldn't believe the crowd!  A new guy was playing guitar for pesos.

The sign at the third stall actually says Local 3, but you'll recognize the little piggies with Poc Chuc on their puerco butts.

The friendly waiters decided to clown around when they saw me with my camera.

We've sampled quite a bit of the menu.  The guacamole was good, as were Craig's chorizo tacos one day at noon.

  Coca-Cola -- it's for breakfast!

Piggies pose for their close ups.

This appears to be the Poc Chuc altar.

Love the napkin holders!

Huevos Mexicana

This photo really doesn't do the chicken burrito justice!  Their sign says 'Best Burritos on Isla Mujeres', and Craig agrees!  He's thinking about getting one to go tomorrow morning for breakfast.

The fruit plate!

We head out tomorrow morning for Akumal.  We'll be so sad to leave Isla, but we're looking forward to new adventures.  Stay tuned!

On our way home today, we spotted this Isla icon on the porch at Hemingway's.  Bundle up folks!  I think the squirrels are collecting nuts for the winter!

Feliz Día del Pavo!

Yes, it's the day when we Americans celebrate pavo.  We're planning on having pavo with all the trimmings with friends at Qubano this evening.

The weather's been breezy and wonderful!  We moved to a new location yesterday and lots of you will recognize this place.

Craig's amazed at how loud the surf is in this location and I told him to try it in a hurricane!  Tee hee.

I made a slideshow of all my photos from Dia de La Revolution, but haven't been able to get it to upload to YouTube properly, so I'll just post some photos of the parade for now.  I have to say it was the best parade I've seen in Mexico!

Viva Mexico!  Happy Thanksgiving Day to all our friends and family!

Polo's Mango Cafe

Last Saturday, we were lovin' some of Polo's great Mango Cafe food!  After dropping off clothes at a laundry in El Centro, we made a last minute decision to hop a taxi and head to the colonias for some Mango.

Plenty of others had the same idea!  When we first arrived, we snagged the only available table.

We started with watermelon liquadas.

And split an order of chicken quesadillas!  They were as delicious as they look in this photo. The consistency of the food at Polo's Mango Cafe never fails.

After that wonderful food, we decided to walk back to El Centro. Along the way, I snapped a few more photos!

Oh yes it is!

Roof dog alert!

Love this casa!

The Cristal moto.

Love this door and sign.

Colonia fruit stand.

Stopping for a tortilla snack at Mama Lolita Tortilleria.

Do you think we walked off our chicken quesadillas by the time we got home?  I plan on making a repeat trek back to Polo's before we leave!

The Morning Beach Report

It's currently raining, but I'm hoping for clearing and daytime temps in the high 70's!  Here's the pictorial report from a few days ago.

The gorgeous sunrise out our back window.

Early morning on Playa Norte.

The welcome wagon.

Cue the yell.  Tarzan's outpost.

A chandelier in the palapa!  I think they were getting ready for a wedding at Maria del Mar.

Maria del Mar beach beds.

Peaceful spot between Maria del Mar and NaBalam.

Boats tied up at the Avalon bridge.

Avalon Cove

House on the Rocks

Stupid tourist trick.  Wheelies on the beach!  I came upon a young couple in a golf cart stuck in the sand.  Fortunately, a friendly jogger stopped to help push the golf cart back up to the street.  Don't do sand!  : )
