Lunch at the Javelina Cantina

Where to start! We had such a great weekend up in Sedona. Michael had given me two nights at the Hilton Resort in Sedona for Mother's Day, so we set out Saturday morning for our weekend adventure.

Whenever we head out of Phoenix northbound on I-17, there's almost always traffic delays. This time we got tangled in a 30 plus minute backup about an hour north of the metro area. When we finally inched our way to the scene, there were ambulances, fire trucks, and highway patrol blocking the two lane northbound roadway with helicopters circling above. Emergency workers were staring down the 500 foot drop off. We assume a vehicle plummeted over the guardrail. We never heard the full report, but the interstate was later completely shut down and I'd guess it involved a fatality because of the steep fall.

Once we got to Sedona, our room wasn't quite ready, so we decided to take in a little of the local scenery.

We then headed to our favorite shop to explore for an hour or so. I'll post more about that later, but I had to include a few teaser photos!

All kinds of Talavera crosses.

Another Volkswagen sighting.

The Big Chief!

And the Big Clucker.

After all that, we were ready for lunch, so we headed to our favorite Mexican restaurant in Sedona -- the Javelina Cantina!

After taking a seat out on the patio, we started out with the chips and salsa.

I ordered the Chicken Tostada.

And Craig decided on the Pollo Asado Burrito.

Yum! I'm almost embarrassed to admit it, but we liked it so much, we returned for lunch again the next day! In fact, we were tempted to just eat dinner there Saturday night, but decided that was a little nuts?
