Happy Mother's Day!
I'm sitting here howling at a table in the morning sun drinking my mocha frappe reading the Bisbee Police Beat in the local paper. Doesn't take much to make me happy! (I'm a little warped.)
April 29 -- A man's guardian angel was on break when during a bible study the church's ex-pianist came in, choked him and hit him on the head.
A woman on Hoatson Ave. received a call from Jamaica with the news she won $200,000.
April 30 -- A dog escaped from a yard on Tombstone Canyon. It was described as an older, small, tan, fat wiener-type Chihuahua.
April 22 -- A Bisbee woman reported a crazy guy approached her, then went into a trailer.
April 23 -- A Hereford man believes his neighbor is spying on him. He called to find out if it was true.
April 25 -- An older woman ran over her own legs. (Still puzzling over this one.)
A Hereford man reported something in his trash can. He didn't know what it was but stated it was big enough to move the trash can.

Angel Murals
Rounding a corner and finding an alley full of angel murals to photograph = Happy Saturday!

Happy Friday!
Nothing's better than a weekend roadtrip! Guess where we're headed?
Our destination's a funky artsy mining town in Arizona.
Craig's hoping for a meatloaf sandwich at Cafe Cornucopia for lunch.
Oops. Cat's out of the bag!

#100 Happy Days
Lots of friends are challenging themselves on Facebook with this theme. Since I've been struggling to post here, I decided to translate the concept to my blog.
Day 1: My happiness today comes from that child of my heart. Sometimes it takes a mom a long time to realize her child has achieved the success every parent should embrace. That success would be finding the life they aspire to full of fun adventures, good friends, great love, fulfilling work, and whatever makes THEM happy!
Cheers to my son Mike! One down, ninety-nine days to go!

Some Boats, Somewhere
I'm sure most of you can guess my favorite somewhere!
These yellow and blue Ultramar ferries bring us to Somewhere.
The car ferry in the distance departs as a snorkeling panga approaches the dock.
My favorite boats are the small simple pangas locals use to earn their living. This seems like a good name for a boat!
Coca-Cola time on the Shirley.
A little Spanish lesson. Tiburon Ballena = Whale Shark.
My favorite panga pic from this trip.

The pirate ship passes the Posada del Mar beach. Aaargh.
Bally Hoo's a great place to sit and watch pangas dock and unload.
I finally googled Barrabas because the name eluded me.

If you're still around at sunset, I love watching the fishing captains park their boats in the slips. This guy makes it look so easy.
A family arriving at sunset.

As a footnote, it's a little ironic that I love taking photos of boats. My first trip to the tropics, I got motion sickness floating on an air mattress off Waikiki. A rough boat ride can knock me flat for days, so I don't take daytrips to Contoy, whale shark tours, etc... On our last trip, I was so nauseated after the rough ferry ride, Craig brought home carryout for dinner. Years ago, I refused to take the rough ferry ride off the island when a storm was approaching and got caught in a Cat 2 hurricane.
Pretty to look at, but I'll skip the ride!

So Tropical
Some photos just scream the tropics! Swaying palms, a white sand beach and aqua water, coconuts, a cold mojito, a palapa bar or dock restaurant -- you get the picture. Here's a small collection from our winter trip.
I ordered a mojito a few weeks ago at the local Keg and it tasted like a margarita with mulled mint. My dinner companion said you can't get a decent mojito in Arizona. I think she's right! I started my own pot of mint on the patio last week. I'll keep you posted on my first mojito attempt!

Village People, Part Dos
These stroller/cars are the rage down there. Everyday, we'd see this little boy out and about in his Mini on Juarez. The hat is too cute!
Speedy cake delivery. Yum!
Taxi drivers waiting for a fare.
Stylin' down Hidalgo on rollerblades.
Winter visitors hanging out at La Tablita (once upon a time Hemingway's) Cantina. We don't usually visit in high season, so I'd never witnessed the afternoon crowd on the porch.
This winter regular was wearing a modified hat this year. I'm used to seeing his head draped in furs.
Daytrippers have amazing powers to remain upright on boats and docks in these shoes.
The Tuggui man has one of the hardest jobs on the island. Not only does he pull that heavy cart through sand, he also pushes it to town from the colonias everyday.
This vendor was resting with his heavy load of framed prints. Cows???

Isla's Furry Friends
Our furry friends own a piece of our hearts, and there are so many furry friends to love on Isla Mujeres.

Vivian's cat (she feeds her) at Qubano loves this particular table. If she has to relinquish her seat for customers, she curls around the legs of the chair. Pretty kitty!
This cat has found a sweet spot for a game of I spy. Or maybe she's just showing off for my camera.
The cute little chihuahua resides at the book/magazine store on Juarez just south of Mogagua.
This is one of my favorite Isla dog photos from a few years ago. A friend titled it Waiting for Godot. He's the strong silent type.
My favorite dog's in the sidebar of this blog. That's Saby. She was quite the character and it's almost two years since her death. Not sure I'll ever get over her!

Come on! Let's go for a ride! Frenchie evidently loves wind in his ears.
Peluche loves to stick his head through the star at his home on the malecon when people pass.
This is Cuba, Vivian's famous talking dog. You can view Cuba's line of videos on the Qubano Facebook page. He's a sweetie!

These little dogs love to hang in their courtyard out in the colonias.
January is winter on Isla Mujeres, so this fella's sporting a t-shirt on the stoop.
And then there's Toby. A friend told me everytime he goes to the gym on Isla, he comes back and there's a dog in his cart. We were at El Varadero (next to the gym) with friends one afternoon and sure enough, we came out to a dog in the cart. Toby's a pussycat, but he could not be persuaded to move. Someone from the restaurant came out to assist. She said, "That's Toby!" Golfcart = sofa.

She loved to snooze behind the oleanders.
And never turned down a ride in the car and a family vacation.
She hated the pool, but loved a good photo op! Does this suit make my back look hairy?
Saby -- in our hearts forever.
