More Santa Fe Scenes
We're in Santa Rosa, New Mexico tonight. After one last taste of the fabulous red chili sauce they spread on Mexican food here, we'll head back to Phoenix tomorrow. My blogger woes ended today when I resubmitted an order for more photo storage space (hope I'm not double charged), so I decided to post some more photos from Santa Fe. Can't wait to get home again and sleep in my own bed!

Still on the Road
We're in Tulsa, Oklahoma this morning headed back to Phoenix. I'm still having fun and taking photos, but Blogger won't let me share them. I've tried to update my storage capacity, but there's a glitch and I don't have time to figure it out. So blogging and photos will have to wait!
We stopped at a Sonic Drive-in yesterday in Kansas and a $20 dollar bill that I handed Craig was sucked out the window never to be seen again. It's kind of the same thing happening with Blogger. I check the $20 box and feed them my credit card, then the transaction goes into cyberspace and doesn't seem to record. It's supposed to take up to 24 hours to update, but it's been 48 and nothing's happened.
We had dinner last night with a good friend and her family, and today's plans include stopping at my favorite antique mall in Weatherford, Oklahoma and spending the night in Santa Rosa, New Mexico. Then home again home again with my aching back by Wednesday night where the lovely Saby will be waiting for us. I can't wait to hop in the pool and see if my aches and pains will float away. I'm not sure if the back is just suffering from constant sitting in the car, or if it has anything to do with our little collision in Santa Fe a week ago. I'm hoping getting out of the car will cure it!
On the road again!
P.S. Schmucks! Evidently, it's not even allowing me to hyperlink to a You Tube video, so just hum Willie Nelson and Sheryl Crow singing On the Road Again!

Detour
On the last leg of our roadtrip to Kansas City this week, we veered off the highway several times to see if there were any antique stores. We didn't find any antiques, but here's some photos from the road.
An old hitching post in Ellsworth, Kansas. (For all you city slickers, people tied their horses to these.)
An old stone home in Ellsworth, Kansas.
We took a really long detour off I-70 looking for the Brookville Hotel in Brookville, Kansas where they used to serve fried chicken dinners. Call it a grease craving. It was gone! About an hour later in Abilene, Kansas as we were speeding by the exit, I noticed a new replica off I-70 where the Brookville Hotel was now serving their famous meals. By then, we were so over it and had decided to stop at Vista in Topeka where they serve the famous Vistaburgers. (But that's another story.) Anyway, there were still some other old buildings standing in the town, including the Brookville Mercantile above and an old hardware store below.
I guess you can go home again. (But you just can't go inside?)

Road Trip Diary
Notes from the road of the photos not taken:
The casino billboard that advertises Tic-Tac-Toe with live chickens? What the heck!
The cutest old couple, I'm guessing early 80's, on a date at the Braum's in Guymon, Oklahoma. They were both eating their double dip waffle cones ($1.89). He had his arm around her beaming and she was snuggling with him.
The collision scene. Craig asked me this morning why I missed the perfect opportunity to take photos of the fender bender for the blog. Number one -- the woman who hit us and the police might not have appreciated it! And number two -- I didn't want to get myself killed by getting out of the car in the middle of a busy intersection.
Charlie's Bakery in the other Las Vegas (New Mexico) where we ate lunch today. We were expecting standard bakery/lunch fare with the typical sandwiches and salads. We ate fantastic homemade Mexican -- beef tacos, chicken enchiladas, and a steak/potato burrito enchilada style with pozole and beans. We left with a bag of iced sugar and chocolate chip cookies that were fully consumed by the time we arrived in Guymon.
Here are a few photos from the Santa Fe vicinity.

Oh Praise the Mighty Jackalope!
Craig should be praised for his patience (actually, he sat in the car and read his book) because he knows any trip to New Mexico will include at least one stop at Jackalope. In fact, it could include two since there's another one right down the street from us here in Santa Fe. If I ever win the lottery, I vow to buy a summer home in New Mexico and furnish it will all my favorites finds at Jackalope!
And by the way, we're both feeling better tonight after a soak in the hot tub and a lot of ibuprofen. On our way back to the hotel this afternoon, we were rear-ended at a stoplight in Santa Fe. Fortunately, the hitch on the back of Craig's Pilot kept the sedan behind us from doing damage to the car, but the jolt jarred us from head to toe. But everything now is todo bien. The snow fell hard for awhile late this afternoon, but hopefully, we won't wake up to an accumulation. I guess there are worse things than getting stuck in Santa Fe!

Meet Me At the Wigwam!
We're on the road. We took a slight detour today when we noticed this old motel on Route 66 in Holbrook, Arizona. I think I'll pass on staying at the Wigman, but how fun would that have been as a kid to have stayed in a teepee motel room! We saw a maid's cart outside one of the wigwams, so they're obviously for rent. The owner has a collection of old cars sitting in the parking lot. Wouldn't mind having that bright blue baby with the fins!
We're headed to Santa Fe tomorrow and it's supposed to be snowing??? Hmmmmmm.

The Hats! The Hats!
I'm just too busy to post this morning because I'm watching the rerun of Will and Cate's wedding on the BBC. I figured I'd might as well go for the gusto and watch the pomp with British commentators. (Not to mention the BBC makes it possible to catch the repeat in its entirety without having to stay up all night!)
I'm hoping that Archbishop gets groomed for the wedding. In his pre-interview, he looked alarmingly disheveled with white hair sticking out everywhere! Then there's Boris, the Mayor of London, with his blonde Beatle mop of hair. He's definitely more of a personality compared to the more staid but quite dashing Prime Minister.
The hats, the hats! How in the hell are some of those satellite dishes anchored to their heads? Victoria Beckham with her tightly drawn brunette ponytail seems to have a large ornamental hat pin screwed into her brain to anchor that silly thing on her forehead. Maybe that's why she looks so funereal and painfully pinched? Wonder what the photographic bounty for a smiling photo of Posh would be? But I guess it's so vogue to never smile. : (

Wish they'd speed this thing up because I need to start getting organized and packing. We're leaving tomorrow on a cross-country roadtrip!
Oops. There's Wills! Must go! : )
