The Dog Ate My Homework

Life has been intervening lately with blog posting time, not to mention we're currently not traveling and I don't have anything novel to write about.  And here's the dog ate my homework excuse -- my former laptop crashed in the late spring and destroyed all my photo files prior to our last Isla trip in June.  That's made posting very time-consuming and difficult.  I do have most of my photo files on a backup device, but I'm reluctant to risk this laptop because who knows what's lurking there.

I could tell you about the recent books I've read that I loved (The Thread, In the Kingdom of Men, Cuba Diaries, etc...), but you can catch that down on the sidebar.  I've also been mulling whether I want to continue posting on any kind of regular basis, or just occasionally when I have trip stories and photos to share.

As you can tell, I'm befuddled and bamboozled at the moment!  : )  For now, instead of declaring a total departure, I may post the occasional rerun until our next adventure in November.   Or maybe I could just show filmstrips everyday like my son's seventh grade science teacher!

Hope I'm forgiven for my current slacker attitude!  This too shall pass!

Here's a video from our 2011 November/December trip to Isla Mujeres.  I'm hoping our upcoming trip will be just as much fun (without any dental complications)!

I love that and it could be an ad for Isla...a nice cross-section of pics.
Keep on 'keepin' on...' I love your posts. Have fun in November.

It's just ok to post whenever you please. It's supposed to be fun!

I can always heckle you for no reason.

November will be here in no time at all!

I live in Belize and have the same problem. My husband has been suffering from a pinched nerve for a few weeks, and we haven't been doing much of anything interesting. I know people appreciate when we post, but sometimes it's just the same old, same old. Everyone should understand "blogging gaps" since it's not like this is a job or anything -- it is supposed to be fun, right? I try not to let the pressure get to me, but sometimes it does!

I feel the same way, Becky! My readership has dropped off considerably--thank you for commenting--it's appreciated! My daily life is pretty boring & I can post only so many photos of the cat & dog!

I like your site and it inspires me to continue to improve on mine. I have tried to keep it impersonal to a great extent and as such, I intentionally omit family photos or information I feel that degree of openness or intimacy is best reserved for private emails and communication so I try to stick to photography and examples of my artistic pursuits. As a result, however, it can appear a bit flat and, well, one dimensional. I am also no local historian/social butterfly/gadfly/or authority, just a property owner in Huatulco for the past 7 years.
I must say, however, that the more I post to it the more effortless it becomes rather than feeling any burden of duty or responsibility to it.
Of course, if it starts to feel like work I will immediately stop doing it.

Jim, I recently found your blog when I was looking at Huatalco. We'd like to come down in January or February. I'm looking at United flights now. The area looks beautiful!
