I'd Rather Be Looking at Isla Art!

Of course I'd rather be on Isla Mujeres!  And if I was on the island, I'd be attending the Barlito Artist Series later today!  Here are some photos from one in November.  It's a fabulous opportunity to see some unique art, jewelry, and even seaglass!

Sorry I don't have all the artists' names, but I loved everything I saw that evening!

 Gorgeous etchings!

Handmade tote bags and other textile objects.

Sally Margolis makes gorgeous jewelry.  Some of the pendants are even hand-stamped with Isla!

I bought the heart locket filled with seaglass and some gorgeous beaded earrings.

He's lovin' life and sells seaglass and handmade seaglass art.

Judy sells really unique necklaces and bracelets made from beads, seaglass, and shells.

And look at these paintings!  I love the beach scene!

Handcrafted baskets and lamps!

Very unique mixed medium art!

The artist and her muse.  Once again, I apologize for not knowing names.

If you're on the island between 4:30 and 6:30 tonight, wander down Hidalgo to Barlito and take in the show!  It's a don't miss!

Barlito's Thanksgiving Tamales!

We missed having the turkey leftovers at Thanksgiving, so once we got back home, Sunday was a post-Thanksgiving celebration at our house here in Arizona.  I scaled the meal back to turkey breast, stuffing, green beans, and cranberries since it wasn't really the holiday.  Last night we were in a satisfied trytophan haze.

Eating turkey yesterday reminded us of the outstanding smoked turkey tamales we had at Barlito the day after Thanksgiving.  Oh my!

Tiffany and Brad hard at work in Barlito's!

Notice the huge selection of baked goods!  We couldn't resist sharing a chocolate cupcake and a pumpkin chocolate chip cookie later that same afternoon.  Yum!

And here's the meal we're still talking about -- Barlito's special Thanksgiving tamales! Those tamales are a fabulous gourmet combination of smoked turkey, roasted garlic mashed potatoes, and chorizo poblano stuffing.

This other traditional tamale was also amazing!

Next year, if we're on Isla Mujeres for Thanksgiving, we're thinking about skipping the big traditional Thanksgiving dinner and just having Barlito's Thanksgiving tamales for lunch instead!

I'm not sure what gourmet specialty Tiffany will be serving over the upcoming holidays, but if you're on the island, you won't want to miss it!
