An Isla Progressive Breakfast

No, we didn't really eat all these breakfasts in one day, but I thought it would be interesting to show some of the selections available on Isla Mujeres.

The breakfast tacos at Jax!  These were a hit!

The fruit plate from Alex and Giovanni's at the market.  It took me a few Isla trips to figure out where the food stands at the market were located.  For any newbies who haven't discovered it yet, the market is just south of the Post Office on Guerrero.

Huevos Mexicana at Alex & Giovanni's.

Barlito's is another breakfast favorite.  I was trying to eat a little healthier (note trying) this trip, so I skipped the cinnamon rolls, but this breakfast bagel is amazing with bacon, lettuce, tomato, avocado, and onion!

I already posted this photo earlier, but seriously, M & J's Cazuela is a must!

Another market favorite -- Tacos Tumbra.  Below we sampled their Huevos Mexicana.

I love the variety of vinyl tablecloths at the market!

The Omelette at Bally Hoo!  Their breakfast sandwiches, including baguettes and bagels, are also great!

The Steak Burrito at the Mango Cafe.  We also ordered the Chicken Quesadilla another day, and it was equally as amazing!

So many great restaurants -- too few days.

Strolling Medina

Dr. Simi strolling down Medina.  While I was standing there, a local guy tried to hand him a six-pack of empties.  Do you think he sees out of the mouth?  All I can say is that's a hot job to have in the tropics!

Vendor pedaling down the malecon.

Crumbling tacqueria stand.

Orange juice vendor in front of the ferry dock on Medina.

The Sol tent.  I always warn Craig when we're on Isla -- you cannot buy a soul.

The sidewalk imprint by the fish arches.

Flying fish.  Not!

The Coca-Cola beach hut at the end of the day.

 Bally Hoo from the dock.

The braid vendor's discombobulated model.

The bar at Mininos.

These shops on Medina have been closed for so long,  flowering weeds are wrapping around the gate.

The Sunset Star on the south end of Medina in the block before the Navy base.  I've never seen it open, but I probably didn't notice it in my early trips to the island.  One day in June, a man was ripping off part of the roof.

The ever popular paleteria.  We always stop at least once each trip!

Mininos getting ready for a children's party one evening.  Parents were pulling up out front dropping off kids.

The local volleyball game at dusk.

So Mexican

On taqueria time.

Could this heartthrob be the next El Presidente?

Beer bucket planter.

A mess of meter confusion.

Superior street cat.

 Re-purposed headboard.

Poodle on board.

 Red flag on a stick.

Tostada chips airing on cookie sheets on the wall where Guerrero meets Chimbo's.  Sand, bird droppings, cats, doggies -- I don't think I'll ever feel the same about an order of guac and chips.

Very official non official signs?

A religious procession headed down the airport strip.

Okay, I always look at this restaurant and sign and think it's just so politically incorrect.  Well, little did I know, La Negrita is the Black Madonna south of the border.  Costa Rica's patron saint!

Street blockade.  It's far superior to just throwing down a pile of rocks and palm fronds in lieu of warning cones.

Mexican Coca Cola!  Disfruta!

Blue Day

Yes, I've been slightly blue since our reentry to this dirt zone we call Arizona.   Blue's one of my favorite colors . . .

whether it's an old blue bike

a blue lavanderia

 a blue sign

 a blue boat

 a blue Josefina

 a blue bar

a blue sunset

 a blue door

or the deep blue sea.
